How are the days counted?
We count calendar days from today to the holiday, using your device's date. Tomorrow is 1 day away. The live timer on each page counts down to 12:00 AM at the start of the holiday in your time zone, or to the exact equinox or solstice moment for the seasons.
Where do the dates come from?
Federal holidays follow 5 U.S.C. 6103 (for example, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November). Mother's Day and Father's Day follow 36 U.S.C. 117 and 109. Easter is calculated with the standard Gregorian method and matches the U.S. Census Bureau's Easter table. Season start times come from the U.S. Naval Observatory.
Does the countdown work in my time zone?
Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser from your own clock, so the countdown ends at midnight where you are.
